Transcender is a solo exhibition by Oree Holban, presented at Hamidrasha Gallery in 2019. The show unfolds as a colorful, emotionally layered journey through childhood bedrooms, meditation rooms, gendered spaces, and neon-lit fantasy. Built from autobiographical experience, Transcender offers an expansive reflection on identity, queerness, and spiritual transformation—merging innocence with complexity, play with pain.

My role in the project was to create an 8-minute VR experience that translated Holban’s hybrid world into an immersive, sensorial space. The VR work was designed as a meditative journey, allowing viewers to inhabit the perspective of another—evoking empathy, tenderness, and internal motion. I built the experience from the ground up, animating symbolic transitions, abstracted environments, and subtle visual cues that reflect the exhibition’s fluid narrative of gender, memory, and self-acceptance.
